The Things I Love

I love to see a sunrise, on an icy, winters morning,
And watch the wildlife slowly wake, to face a new day dawning,
I love to see a rainbow , set against a clear blue sky,
The mist that swirls around the hills, and birds that fly so high.

I love the peaceful silence, as day succumbs to night,
The stars that shine so brightly, turning darkness into light,
I love to see the morning dew, as it sparkles on a rose,
Hear my mother say "I love you" as she gently kisses my nose.

I love to see the smoke rise, from our chimney when it's cold,
A tiny, helpless kitten, when it is just a few hours old,
I love to see the goat kids, playing games with one another,
And my life in the Great Australian Bush, I wouldn't it for another.

I choose to see the things I love, not only with my eyes,
I'm listening now, as the gum trees, sway slowly with deep sighs,
So much in life is taken from us, with so much we have to part,
But the memories of the things I love, will live forever in my heart.
