I Say Thank you Lord

I open my eyes daily as I lay in bed,
Say thank you Lord, I'm alive and not dead,
Crawl out my bed, go about my merry way,
My thoughts turn to others, who won't have this day,

Shaving, brushing, cleansing my body,
My persona is toned, to others I'll not be shoddy,
Selecting what clothing, I'll wear for today,
Although the real focus, kindness I pray,

My attention directed, my kids and my wife,
My strength, my anchors, add meaning to my life,
The comforts of home, the necessities at hand,
Close my eyes, lift my head, give thanks to the man,

Arriving to work, though not always on time,
Co-workers are pleasant, so I'm just fine,
Briefings, debriefings, assignments are waiting,
That darn phone keeps ringing, more work generating,

My thoughts turn to others, with no job in sight,
Thank GOD for mine, so complaining ain't right,
I walk, I breath, sometimes I even run,
I look around me, see others whose life isn't fun,
A long productive day has come to an end,
I'm headed back home, where it all began,

The family's re-joined, we're all in one piece,
Give thanks to the Lord, his grace was our fleece,
Feel sorry for yourself, think your life is hard,
Try closing your eyes, lift thy head, say thank you Lord!
