Gallows - The gallows of the Nicholas Street jail was where Patrick Whelan was hanged for the murder of McGee. Thomas D'Arcy McGee was one of the founding fathers of Confederation. He was assassinated on the 7th of April, 1868 at 2:30 in the morning in Ottawa. Whelan was hanged on the 11th of February.
